Post-Storm Recovery and Latest Flooding Update
Ngwenya Lodge continues to recover from the severe storm of 2 December 2025, followed by further heavy rainfall and localised flooding in mid-January 2026. On-site teams have made steady progress in stabilising operations, clearing debris, and restoring infrastructure, although recovery has been slowed by ongoing rain and limited contractor availability over the festive period. Weather forecasts indicate continued rain risk, and the Resort remains in a cautious, actively monitored operational state.
Recent flooding affected a number of units to varying degrees. Most impacted units remain usable or have been reopened subject to ongoing monitoring, while a small number have been temporarily closed for safety assessments, drying, and remediation. Additional units are being closely monitored should heavy rainfall persist. Certain facilities, hides, and the boma remain closed due to safety concerns, and some areas of the Resort are barricaded as storm recovery work continues. Guests are advised to exercise caution, avoid restricted zones and riverbanks, and ensure children remain clear of work areas.
Water and environmental conditions remain variable, with dam levels generally stable but river extraction currently suspended. Guests may notice discoloured water, which is not safe for drinking, and alternative drinking water arrangements are recommended. While some accommodation units and carports remain closed due to storm damage, all units currently allocated for occupation have been assessed and cleared for use, subject to ongoing monitoring. Management thanks shareholders and guests for their patience and cooperation as restoration efforts continue, with Reception and Duty Management available to assist at all times.
